The Urs is celebrated in his memory every year. This is the main attraction for the tourist. He died in 1278 and his shrine is located in Multan. The shrine was built by his grandson in 1330. Shamsuddin Sabzwari also had prominent place in the famous Ismaili Da’is. He was sent by 29th Ismaili Imam to preach in South Asia. Shamsuddin preached in the north western part of south Asia. He spent the better part of his life last years around Multan and was buried there. He is also known as Shams Multani. The mausoleum is located about half a mile to the east of Multan fort site on the high bank of old bed of Ravi River. The tomb is 30 feet high and surrounded by a hemispherical dome. It is decorated with glossy tiles.

Background

Shamsuddin reached Multan early at 1200 C.E. And started preaching Islam to the local population. Shamsuddin sabzwari is considered to be a saint because of his poetry. Shamsuddin sabzwari was buried in it.
